Britney Spears is planning to quit LA and move back to her hometown in Louisiana – and take her kids with her.
It’s rumoured Brit, 26, is planning to fight ex-hubby Kevin Federline to get full custody of sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one.
Brit’s dad Jamie spilt the beans when he was representing her in court over a driving offence. He reckons his daughter, above, is only in La La land because she has to share custody of her boys with K-Fed who lives there. And he revealed Britney is already building a family home in Louisiana. Jamie told the court: “Louisiana is her home. She was born and raised there. We plan to move back when we can travel with the kids.”
But Brit will find herself with a huge fight on her hands from K-Fed. A source said: “Kevin will be devastated if she wins full custody.”
Britney Spears’ extended mental vacation that culminated in losing custody of and visitation with her two children cost her at least $716,000 in lawyers’ fees, court documents obtained by the Associated Press show.
Spears, who recently settled the dispute with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, agreed to pay $250,000 to his attorneys, and the new documents show she owes more than $406,000 to another attorney, and $60,000 to yet another. Spears’ father, Jamie, who is still the conservator of her estate, has said he plans to contest some of the bills.
Saturday, August 9th. Kevin Federline’s attorney Mark Kaplan was seen leaving the Ivy with a special someone. Mark gave us a few comments about any possible future court hearings between Britney and Kevin but said everything seems to amicable for the time being.
The last year has seen many changes in the life of Britney Spears.
Most of the focus centered on the custody battle over her two beautiful boys with ex Kevin Federline and the long standing conservatorship over her person and estate that, thanks to her father Jamie Spears, has slowly helped the singer,26, regain and stabilize her mental health.
While most will agree Brit’s conservatorship is necessary to keeping her healthy, it has not been without a heavy price — literally.
In the last five months, Britney has paid $724,109 in attorneys fees to Andrew Wallet, Sam Ingham, Luce Law Firm and Stacy Phillips and to her father, who to date has made aproximately $37,500 acting as his daughter’s conservator.
And that’s just her conservatorship case. Brit’s also had to shell out money for her separate custody case(Remember, Brit paid both K-Fed’s lawyers and her own).
A source close to the case estimates that Britney has paid Mark Vincent Kaplan roughly $745,000 as well as over $1 million to a rotating door of attorneys who acted as her counsel.
When you add all that money together, the total number equals out to just under $2,500,000 that Britney has paid to attorneys in the last year.
He reportedly expected Britney to fight harder for her boys…
Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline is reportedly disappointed with their custody settlement – because he never set out to gain full custody of their kids. Federline was awarded sole custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, earlier this month, following a bitter 18-month court battle. It means he now has to juggle being a full-time parent to his sons and looking after his two children from a previous marriage. And he is said to be adamant that Spears should take an active role in bringing up the boys. A source tells “Kevin loves his sons, but he didn’t aim for sole custody. He wanted to be a co-parent and didn’t expect Britney not to fight for custody.”He never wanted full responsibility. He believes both parents should take an active role. It’s tough being a single parent, plus he already has another two children.”

BSB NOTE: OF Course He Don’t Want The Kids He Just Wants The Money!!! Oh please he new exactly what he was doing now he is playing the victim!! This guy is a real piece of work!! He put Britney through hell and Now that he got what he wanted he is trying to make it look like Britney didn’t fight hard for her kids !!! This is ridiculous I have no respect for that idiot!!!
Britney Spears is “thrilled” her custody battle with Kevin Federline is over – because she can now concentrate on “getting better”.
Federline and Spears finally agreed on the custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, during a hearing at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday (25Jul08).
Spears was ordered to increase her monthly child support by $5,000 (GBP2,500). There were no amendments to Spears’ visitation rights – she currently enjoys three days and one night a week with her sons.
But Spears’ attorney Laura Wasser says the singer is delighted with the agreement – because her sons inspire her to improve her mental health.
Wasser tells People.com, “She’s thrilled. To have more time with her kids has been her motivation to get well. In light of her outstanding conservatorship, she couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
Spears was admitted to Los Angeles psychiatric clinic earlier this year (Jan08). Doctors said the 26-year-old was no longer a danger to herself since being admitted and treated for her increasingly erratic behaviour.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Singer Britney Spears will pay $20,000 a month in child support to ex-husband Kevin Federline for the care of their two children and will make a final payment of $250,000 to his lawyers, according to a final custody agreement filed in court on Friday.
The monthly child support payment is a $5,000 increase over what Spears and Federline, a dancer and rap singer, agreed to last year, the court papers showed.
The agreement formally settles the custody case between Spears, 26, and Federline, 30, said Allan Parachini, a spokesman for the– Los Angeles Superior Court
The custody portion of the settlement was not made public. In an order filed on Friday, an August custody trial for the case was called off.
Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, last week told several media organizations the agreement would allow Federline to retain sole custody of his children with Spears — Sean Preston, 2-1/2, and Jayden James, 22 months.
Kaplan and Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser, did not return calls on Friday.
Spears’ $250,000 payment for Federline’s legal expenses is due July 30.
Spears and Federline married in 2004, split up in late 2006 and their divorce was finalized last year. Spears lost custody of the boys in January after two brief hospitalizations for psychiatric evaluation.
During the divorce and custody battle last year, Spears displayed increasingly bizarre behavior in public such as shaving her head and going after the paparazzi with an umbrella.
But Spears in recent months has been credited with turning her life around and last month she was given court permission for overnight visits with her sons.
LOS ANGELES – Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalized their child-custody settlement Friday, including a $5,000-per-month increase in child support for the pop singer’s ex-husband.
An attorney for Federline delivered the terms of two separate agreements to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon, who gave his approval late Friday afternoon.
According to the agreement dealing with finances, Spears’ payments to Federline go from $15,000 to $20,000 per month, retroactive to July 15. Spears will also pay Federline’s attorneys, Mark Vincent Kaplan and James Simon, a single payment of $250,000.
Last week, the parties said they had also come to terms on custody issues, granting the 26-year-old pop singer more time with her children, including additional overnight visits. The exact terms of that agreement were sealed by the court.
Spears’ father, James, currently controls his daughter’s financial and personal affairs as a court-appointed conservator. He signed off on the agreement on Spears’ behalf.
A hearing on the conservatorship is scheduled for Thursday
Britney Spears is getting more time with her kids. Kevin Federline is getting more money.
That’s the takeaway from the settlement agreement reached between the former fun couple, E! News has learned.
According to the paperwork filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Spears’ monthly child support payments to K-Fed have been bumped from $15,000 to $20,000, retroactive to July 15, and Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan will get a check for $250,000. (View the court docs.)
Attorneys for the ex-Chaotic tandem had been due in court this afternoon for a second straight day of discussions in the custody battle over sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.
But at the last minute the hearing was scrapped and the respective lawyers were dispatched to the courthouse to file the settlement documents.
“The hearing has been called off,” a spokesman for Los Angeles Superior Court tells E! News. “A settlement has been reached.”
According to a source close to Spears and familiar with the deal, the 26-year-old singer will also be getting increased time with her boys.
The only thing requested in the settlement by Federline, 30, was “more money for him and his attorney,” the insider says.
The deal means the ex-spouses won’t be headed to a court showdown. A trial in the tug-of-war case had been scheduled for next month.
Spears is well on her way to regaining joint custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, which she lost following her January meltdown.
“By the end December she will effectively be getting 50-50 time with her boys based on her improvement,” the Spears source says.
The Britney Spears trial is over. The case has officially settled.
Under the terms of the settlement filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, before July 30, Brit must pay K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Kaplan, $250,000 for fees.
As for child support, K-Fed has scored. As we first reported, he’s getting 5k a month more — it’s gone from $15,000 to $20,000 a month.
The agreement does not mention visitation, but we know Brit has three days and one night a week with the kiddies and that will increase as time goes on. We’re told by fall, she’ll have a second overnight a week.
Brit never asked for custody, because she’s still under a conservatorship. So K-Fed has sole custody and she has visitation right. We’re told Brit is ecstatic.
So Is this case about money TMZ has A Poll and it is at 74% YES and 26% NO.
Britney Spears on going custody drama with ex-husband Kevin Federline is coming to an end: papers confirming their settlement are being filed.”There is a final settlement in the Britney Spears-Kevin Federline custody case,” Los Angeles County Superior Court spokesperson Allan Parachini tells Usmagazine.com.
“Documents will be delivered to the court today but they are not sure what time or if any of the documents will be made public today,” Parachini explained.
Last week Spears, 26, agreed to give Federline, 30, sole custody of their boys Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2.
Federline is “absolutely delighted,” his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan has said.
Spears currently has monitored, twice-a-week visitation and one overnight visitation per week. Under the settlement, Spears will get more time with her kids, her attorney, Laura Wasser said last week.
“It was a victory for the whole family that they don’t have to go to a trial,” she said. “I think they figured out a way to work together, to co-parent and make sure their kids will benefit from the result of that.”
The singer lost visitation rights in January after she was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Since then, she has been under the co-conservatorship of her father, Jamie. (A hearing is set for July 31 to determine if the co-conservatorship will be extended
The California court system breathed a sigh of relief last week when OK! exclusively revealed that Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline had finally reached an agreement over their prolonged custody battle for their two children.
However, sources tell OK! that Brit’s dad, Jamie Spears, who has been acting as her court-ordered conservator for several months and who has final say over all her legal and financial matters, isn’t happy with the agreement and is refusing to sign off on the settlement.
Both parties are expected back in court today at 2 p.m. PST for an emergency hearing with family court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who had been expected to make the settlement official several days ago.
Outside the courtroom, a spokesperson for the court said, “There apparently is a settlement… We expect it delivered by one of the lawyers this afternoon.”
However, the spokesperson did say that he could not yet say when the details of the settlement will be released to the public.
On July 17, K-Fed’s lawyer spoke exclusively to OK! to announce that he and Brit’s attorney Laura Wasser had worked out an agreement between the feuding spouses. Under the terms of the settlement, Kevin is to retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James, while Britney will continue to have visitation rights which may increase over time.
The agreement was presented to the court on July 18, at which point commissioner Gordon was expected to finalize the paperwork, finally putting an end to months of back-and-forth feuding.
